FRIDAY PINTS

There are heaps of studies out there which suggest the benefits of drinking with colleagues. Not only has it been proven to increase workplace efficiency, there is evidence that moderate drinking with colleagues can increase staff engagement, workplace cohesion, and reduce the prevalence of today’s ‘silent killers’ of stress and anxiety.   In fact, a study published in 2012 found that those with a blood alcohol concentration of the equivalent of just over a pint and a half solved problems more creatively than those who hadn’t drunk at all – so not only will having an after-work bevvy help boost company morale, it’ll also spur on … Continue reading FRIDAY PINTS

Filled to the brim with cozy, warm, fall flavors (and booze), this cocktail just might rival your dessert. Notes, Tips & Tricks for the best … Continue reading AUTUMN GIN

HOT CIDER

How enticing is a steamy, spicy hot cup on Bonfire Night to warm the soul (and the fingers)?  Mulled wine is too Christmassy, so I prefer to brew up something more autumnal on  5 November, and throughout the winter months too. Make the base an apple one instead, using decent cider and apple brandy  at the core (sorry). I use medium (not bone-dry) cider in a hot punch – it tastes softer and juicier. Use a good-quality, glass-bottled one, such as those below. Method For four drinks, gently warm up a litre or so of cider in a large pan with just two or … Continue reading HOT CIDER

GUNPOWDER TEA

There are many benefits to drinking gunpowder green tea, including preventing chronic disease, soothing arthritis, stimulating the metabolism, aiding in weight loss, preventing tooth decay, protecting the heart, lowering blood sugar and improving the appearance of the skin, among others. In terms of side effects, drinking an excessive amount of green tea can increase your risk of developing kidney stones, and due to the rather high caffeine level, it can be damaging to the nervous system and may induce anxiety when consumed in large quantities. WHISKY SOUR

ABOUT THE WHISKEY SOUR COCKTAIL Spirit, sugar, citrus—the original big three—come together in the Whiskey Sour, whose history stretches back to the Lincoln administration. Few drinks in the cocktail canon are as quick to satisfy and endlessly mutable as the Whiskey Sour. Add a flourish to any component, and you have your own personal spin on the classic. We like our Whiskey Sour thickened with egg white and a few dashes of aromatic bitters for a complementary spice note. INGREDIENTS IN THE WHISKEY SOUR COCKTAIL 2 oz  Bourbon (Try it with George Dickel No. 12) .75 oz Fresh lemon juice .5 oz  Simple syrup .5 oz Egg … Continue reading WHISKY SOUR
